Please help us keep the range clean by putting trash in the green plastic trash cans.
The Derby Fish and Game Club Has lots to offer. The Club owns and maintains two properties, a Shooting range and a Fishing pond. Both are located in Derby, Vermont.
The Fishing Pond, or "Kid's Pond" as we call it, is for Children 14 and under and also Senior Citizens 65 and over. The pond is located between Derby and Derby line, right across from the Fred's Plumbing and Heating Fuel Depot . A Fishing Derby is held every year and trophys are given to kids and seniors. Some of the catagories are; largest fish caught, first to catch a fish, first to catch their limit, youngest child to catch a fish, etc.. This is a nice place to take the family fishing. Please help us keep it clean.
The shooting range is also between Derby and Derby Line but it is almost in Derby Line. Heading north on Rt. 5 the range is on the right side just before Rt. 5 goes under Interstate 91. Making the right hand turn the range is only about 100 yards ahead on the right side.
Many activities take place at the range property. Some of them are: Hunter safety classes, Archery safety classes, Law enforcement training, weekly Trapshooting, annual Muzzleloader shoot, Archery shoots, annual Benchrest rifle shoot, annual .22 Rifle fun shoot, directors meetings and the most common use is just informal shooting at targets.
The club maintains one of the nicest shooting ranges in the State, please help us keep it clean by taking home what you bring to the range. Please support the club by buying a membership so we can continue maintaining the range and holding events.
The club also holds an annual rabbit Hunt and Supper where trophys are given for such things as; heaviest rabbit, heaviest partridge and combinations there of. This is a fun meal with raffles and door prizes.
An annual meeting is held by the club each spring to elect directors and officers. 2009 marked a change in where the meetings are held, it is now held at our shooting range. The meal is a BBQ and a good time can be had pitching horseshoes or just visiting. The Club also awards trophys to members each year at the Annual Meeting for Largest Fish and Game taken. Some of the Categories are Largest Turkey, Bear, Deer and Fish. Any member of the club getting Fish or Game should report their "catch" to Bill Gosslin who runs the trophy program or any Club Director.
